Electronics Project 109 – Speed Controller for USB Fans Using 3 Resistors

概要 Introduction

: 前の電子工作107、１０８とは違い、今回は単純に少し容量の大きい抵抗を３個使ってUSB扇風機の回転速度を４段階に変えられる装置を作ってみた。マイクロコントローラやプログラムも必要ないので回路が簡単になる。後で気づいたのだが、３本の抵抗の代わりに１０００円ほどの可変抵抗（10Ω、３−５W）で抵抗値を連続的に変える方法があることが分かった。

A couple months ago, I made a device that can change the rotational speed of USB fan in four steps using three 3-watt fixed resistors and one 4-contact slide switch as shown in the following Circuit Diagram. The system is simpler with no use of microcontroller and program, and works all right. Later, however, I found that a variable resistor with a capacity of 10 ohm and 3-5 watt could be more conveniently used for this kind of system, rather than these fixed resistors, because the variable resistor makes it possible to steplessly change the rotational speed.

　　　　このシステムは既に公表済みの電子工作107、１０８より大分前に製作したもの。TypeAのUSBコネクタのオスメス間に３個の固定抵抗（3W、４．７、４．０、３．１ohm）を組込み、４接点スライドスイッチで切替えてUSB扇風機に流れる電流量、つまり回転速度をコントロールするものである。

左の写真が完成した基板で、３本の紫色のものが３W固定抵抗、右上にスライドスイッチが見える。右の写真はUSB扇風機につないで使用している様子。

結果とコメント Comments

1) 予想通り動作する。

2) もうちょっとお金を出して、可変抵抗（ボリューム、レオスタット）を使えば、スムースな回転速度コントロールが出来るはず。

3) １０００円以下で出来たかな？
